(If you haven’t read Wednesday’s post, please do so before reading this one so it will make more sense to you.)
I wasn’t planning to write another post until next week, but I had to share my updated news. I went to the mailbox a little while ago and imagine my surprise when I saw a package from my now-defunct publisher. I opened the package to find a letter that was attempted to be sent to me back in March. It had the address to my previous residence, the one we moved out of and was destroyed by Hurricane Harvey. It also included one last copy of one of my books(not the one I needed) and my last royalty paid in cash for a whopping $1.40 !! I have to be careful not to spend it all in one place (insert sarcasm). Best of all, the rights have been reverted to me for both books! Woo Hoo! I am thrilled!
Questions still remain and had I not been proactive when I did finally find out what happened, I am certain today’s surprise never would have occurred. I will probably never find out the answers to my questions but I really don’t care much now. I have my “babies back home” and they are mine. I am going to eventually give them new roots and teach them to fly again. But for now, I have way too many irons in the fire. Prissy, Snickers, Mindy, Lacey and Luke are going to have to chill for the time being until I am ready to give them a makeover.
I am breathing a sigh of relief. Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Wow sis! That’s fantastic!

Glad the rights reverted to you. It never dawned on me that you hadn’t kept up with your publishing company, Peggy. Sorry I didn’t say something to you. I’ve been in your shoes too. I kept putting off asking for rights back on one of mine, was certain the publisher would say no and I hate that word. When I finally vigbthe bullet and asked, he said he’d emailed me two years ago that it was out of print and the rights were mine! 😩 Lesson learned: we BOTH have to be proactive when it comes to our books and our writing business!!

Yes, moving, getting married, having a couple of surgeries, and then retiring I just kept forgetting to check. Lesson learned for sure.
